School of Frontier Media (SFM)

The School of Frontier Media [SFM] is a six-month, second level, YWAM school devoted to using media, graphics, and visual arts to communicate the Gospel in culturally relevant ways.

We can help equip you to use media in bringing the Gospel to the world’s least reached peoples.

What’s it like?

The school starts with 3 months of group training in Chiang Mai. During this three month time, we’ll be diving into the art of portrait and journalistic photography, scriptwriting, videography and directing, principles of graphic design, web design and evangelism, and general media development, as well as various other kinds of media strategies.

We’ll then head out on the “media safari” assignment in Asia for about a month. Together, with the rest of the Create team, students will work on an actual media project with the missionary or organization we are serving. We’ll be putting to use principles of cross-cultural communication on the set as we direct and film an evangelistic and/or mobilization film, capture photographic images, and more.

Back in Chiang Mai, we’ll head into full-time editing mode for another two months. Both students and staff participate as a team putting together all the resources required in the form of print media, digital design or video.

How to Apply
SFM ‘08 school details and application

The School of Frontier Media will help you gain skills in audio/visual communications which can be directly applied to Frontier Missions worldwide. Lectures and workshops will be conducted by teachers who are considered cross-cultural specialists or media professionals in their field of expertise.
