SFM Blog
The Create Emerge team came this week to impart to the SFM students. Ken, Chris and Aaron shared imparting the heart behind mobilization, God’s story through the ages and our part in it. This included the 5 w’s of mobilization, the mark of an ambassador and becoming a missional mobilizer. They then went on to share about the practical tools for making documentaries which covered types of documentaries, planning and filming and the creative process.
This week was new ideas, strategies for using the internet and it’s developments for missions. After having an overview of the development of the internet Calvin C took us into ideas of how we can use if for evangelism through using things like websites, blogging, chatrooms, social networking, video sites like YouTube and podcasting.
We also discussed the future developments of technology and the challenge as christians to remain involved and what kind of strategies we should put in place to create a lifestyle of internet evangelism.
After 5 weeks of real hands on teaching it was a welcome change this week to have a combination of teaching on EthnoArts from Mary S. and Rachel W. The teaching covered the five areas of EthnoArts - drama, dance, music, visual arts and verbal arts.
There were also some practical examples that included Hawaiian dancing, a Thai drama and singing production and study of some different visual arts. We enjoyed an outing to Payap University here in Chiang Mai and a hands on contextualisation assignment helping to shoot a Thai music video.
Another week that was looked forward to with anticipation. For two days Dave H. took us on a whirlwind tour of Photoshop. Then after a morning of inspiration of what can be done he launched us into our assignments and the hands on learning process. We were challenged to create a collage, special effects project and artwork using what we had learned. Once again all were pleasantly surprised at how much could be done and what was achieved over two days.
