School of Frontier Media (SFM)
29 June - 14 December 2013
The School of Frontier Media [SFM] is a six-month, second-level YWAM school, devoted to training individuals in using visual arts to communicate the Gospel in ways that are both innovative and culturally relevant.
We can equip you in your endeavor to make Christ known through means that not only allow the least reached to hear, but see and experience the truth.
What’s it like?
The school starts with three months of training in Chiang Mai, Thailand. While gleaning from professionals coming to you from all across the globe, we’ll be diving into various visual art forms and learning how to effectively communicate through media. You will also be studying how specific people groups communicate while forming strategy on how to put that information into an audio/visual action plan.
We’ll then head out on the “Media Safari” assignment for four weeks. Together, with the Create staff, students will work on an actual media project with the missionary or organization we are serving. We will be putting principles of cross-cultural communication to use as we write, direct and film an evangelistic film, create mobilization resources, capture photographic images, and more! In some cases, you will be making the very first film ever made in that language!
Back in Chiang Mai, it’s full speed ahead to two months of post production. You will get a glimpse of what the life of a media missionary entails as you piece together projects and share space with our Create staff. Both students and staff participate as a team putting together all the resources required in the form of print media, digital design, or video.
Do you have a passion for media? Want to use your skills to share the gospel via mass media tools? Whether you are new to media or a skilled professional, if you want to use media for missions then the SFM is made for you!
The SFM is accredited with the UofN and is an elective of the College of Communications and the College of Christian Ministries. The outreach is an internship with Create International.
The School of Frontier Media will help you gain skills in audio-visual communications which can be directly applied to frontier missions worldwide. Lectures and workshops will be conducted by teachers who are considered cross-cultural specialists or media professionals in their field of expertise.

It has come to our attention that PayPal takes large fees from money sent through PayPal to Create Thailand especially when it is converted to Thai baht. The currency exchange rate is not very favorable either. We'd like you to be aware of it as well.
For receiving payments from sources overseas, the fee is either .5% if contributors are paying from the balance in their PayPal account or up to 3.9% plus and 11 baht fee if they are paying by their debit or credit card. There is also a currency conversion fee. We will be passing the costs on to you when we transfer the amount to our bank account and then withdraw it in cash.
